The Newborn Photography Show

I took Big Crocodile Baby Photography Props on the road last week to Birmingham and  The Newborn Photography Show. The show, organised by 3 of the country's most well known newborn photographers, Melanie East, Tracy Willis and Sarah Wilkes, is beautifully set in the Botanical Gardens in Edgbaston. The trade show offers the newborn photographer a chance to meet specialist suppliers in printing and artwork solutions, backdrops, insurance, training workshops and of course a spectacular array of newborn photography props. This year the show also offered an great choice of training sessions over three days

I had a cute little spot at the entrance to the mini market area where I seemed to have set up a very tactile stand. I am not sure anyone passed without being drawn to the softness of my 100% merino cloud items or Snuggle Soft blankets.

This was the second year I had attended the show and was much better prepared this time with plenty more stock, although I wish I had made more of my cloud bowls which proved to be the most popular prop on my stand selling out before the end of the first morning.

I was again in great company sharing the mini market area with some wonderful UK based photography prop makers. My friend Laurraine from Cake Smash Props bought along another collection of brilliant props for, of course, cakes smashes but also a collection of gorgeous newborn props and maternity dresses.

I met the very entertaining Natalie and Rachel from Minnie and Morgan who bought along their beautiful shabby chic handmade items. Natalie also sold out of her most popular items quite early on and was kept very busy by the photographers who loved her unique designs.

The lovely Jo from Rare Moments Photography travelled with me and kept me company although she was mostly helping out with the wonderful charity Remember My Baby, a UK based registered charity who have professional photographers volunteering their photography services for the benefit of UK parents losing their baby before, during or shortly after birth.

This year I sold a lot of Snuggle Soft Yarn, needles and knitting patterns. I often struggle to keep up with my order list so when someone prefers to make their own I am thrilled. If you did buy a kit or pattern off of me I would love to see how you got on. My patterns are available on the Big Crocodile website, there are some free ones on there too. You can also find my patterns on Loveknitting.com, Ravelry and in my etsy shop. Look out for more patterns and knitting kits coming soon.

I managed to knit up some custom orders whilst on my stand which bought a lot of attention and conversation about knitting.

I would like to say a big thank you to all of the wonderfully talented photographers who allow me to use their images in my promotional material - I couldn't do it without you; Alison EdwardsDanni Johnson, Erin Elizabeth, Kelley Ryden, Leanne Miller, Maria Murray, Melanie East, Sandi ford, Wendy Van Batenburg and Zoe Stewart

I had a fabulous time, meeting lovely people and catching up with friends. I now need to sleep it off, I am exhausted

Thank you Newborn Photography Show
Until next year
x

Why Big Crocodile?

January 12, 2015 1 Comment

I often get asked why Big Crocodile? Well he is my second daughter's imaginary friend. He has been with us for years now but is slowly becoming a less frequent visitor. I enjoyed her stories of what he was up to so much that I did not want to forget him when she no longer needed him. He has therefore been honoured as my business identity. My daughters think that is brilliant.
